When we think of yoga we tend to think ‘bendy’. For many, flexibility comes before all else, leading to imbalances in the body and issues with joints. Yoga should never solely focus on flexibility – it is a complete and balanced practice including strength and stability to enhance and increase flexibility and achieve holistic body movement.
Not into Power Yoga? Neither are we! This workshop is aimed to learn safe and uncomplicated techniques to start building the strength and stability required to build your practice!
The techniques taught will help to address common areas that restrict the movement in certain postures, as well as help to prevent injury and relieve pain. By learning and applying these principles for strength and stability, common injuries are not only minimized but we are able to deepen yoga postures from a place of strength and balance. The root of the limitations in these postures come from a lack of awareness and ability to properly engage certain muscle groups, thereby leaving the body vulnerable.
This workshop delves into:
Problems with common yoga postures caused by insufficient strength
Anatomy of postures to understand our bodies better
Understanding bandhas for stability
How to work around injuries and restrictions
Drills to take home
A one-hour flow class incorporating the techniques learned
